Company Overview

Emirates Gabbro Quarries LLC (EGQ) is a stone-crushing, aggregates production and sales Company; involved in the crushing, processing and/or reprocessing of various types and specifications of rock products – aggregates, road base and armour, established and located in Kadra Area, in Ras Al Khaimah Emirate of the United Arab Emirates.

Emirates Gabbro (formerly owned by a well-renowned high class “local” of the United Arab Emirates) became and has been a subsidiary of Japaul Group of Companies for over three years now, to operate under the umbrella of the Japaul International; making Emirates Gabbro the fourth (4th) Company in the Middle East operating under the same management in Japaul International.

The decision to diversify totally from our main area of expertise in the Middle East (MEP construction) is not far-fetched as both activities are somewhat inter-related. The idea was conceived from the Japaul Group’s experience in the same line of Business (the idea which gave birth to Japaul Mines and Products Limited - JMPL, and saw JMPL succeeding in this area of business) and in addition to the viability of the aggregates and rock products market in the region. The demand for the products increased with the fast growing development of the region and construction of buildings, roads, tourist centres and infrastructural development in the region.

Management Team

Amb. Benson Awomewe - Group Executive Director, International Operations
He is presently leading the company at the international front.  He is leading the Japaul International arm of the business which comprise of Japaul Electro-Mechanical LLC UAE, Japaul Oil and Maritime Services FZE, UAE, Japaul Mines and Products and Japaul LLC, Maryland. Graduated with honours in Applied Geology. He has cumulated more than Twenty (20) years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry. His experience spanned through Technical, Commercial/Contracting, Managerial and Government/Community Liaison. He is a Business Ambassador to the State of Austria.

Omar Abu Shairah - Business Development / Marketing (Team Head)
He joined Emirates Gabbro as the Business Development Manager. He is a Graduate of Electrical Engineering from technical University of Budapest (1990). He started his career in 1991 for Bilkent Holding in Turkey, before moving to SETRACO Nigeria in 1997 where he worked as Plant Engineer and then as Quarry Manager in 1998. In 1999, he moved to Impregilo Group in Cross RiverNigeria as Site Manager in-charge of the installation, production at the quarry where he worked till 2007. In 2008, he moved back to the UAE to join Quality Ready Mix Fujeirah as Manager in charge of operations up till when he left to join the employment of Emirates Gabbro Quarries LLC.

Omotosho Yakubu - Administration (Team Head)
He studied Law at UsmanuDanfodiyoUniversity, Sokoto (1995), attended the NigerianLawSchool, Lagos and after the successful completion of Youths Service Corps joined thereputable Law Firm of Ayodele’Gafar& Co. Kano - 1996-2001.Attained LLM from ObafemiAwolowoUniversity, OsunState(2000). From then on, in 2001, he proceeded to join the Legal Department and Company Secretariat of the defunct Trade Bank Plc, and later went into private practice to establish the Law firm of Tosho Yaqub& Co. Abuja, as a Managing Partner before joining Japaul Group of companies (Middle East Operations) in the capacity of Legal Adviser in 2007 and later become the HR/Admin Manger the position occupied till date. He is a member of some professional bodies among which are Nigerian Bar Association, Chartered Institute of Taxation, Nigeria (Associate), Institute of Management Consultants.

Henry Awe - Finance (Team Head)
He is presently the Finance Manager is a Student Member (Professional Level) of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants UK and an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. He joined the service of the Company in 2007. Before that time, he had been with D&G Oil &Gad Abuja Nigeria as their Accountant and some other organisations. He has been involved in the Management of the Company’s Financials among other assignments.

The reputation of Emirates Gabbro Quarries in the UAE spans even beyond the confines of the Emirates, thus growing into Qatar, Kuwait, where plans have been set in motion to establish fully-fledged and independent offices to carter for the needs of other locations in the Middle East
